Thiago brings over 18 years of experience in corporate finance, specializing in M&A, debt restructuring, corporate strategy, valuation, and portfolio risk management. His expertise combines extensive financial advisory experience with deep knowledge of Afores and private equity managers in Mexico and abroad.

Most recently, Thiago worked with a leading Mexican infrastructure private equity fund manager, where he designed a comprehensive risk management framework at both the manager and portfolio levels. Prior to that, he served as the Director of Fundamental Analysis and Risk at Citibanamex Afore, overseeing a portfolio of approximately $10bn in corporate bonds and private equity investments, and led due diligence for new commitments in these asset classes. His career also includes over a decade with Rothschild & Co and Bain & Company, advising Brazilian, Mexican, and multinational companies across industries including retail, infrastructure, financial services, real estate, agribusiness, and private equity.

Thiago’s addition to our team strengthens Basila Abogados' ability to bridge the gap between legal, strategic, and corporate finance advisory services. His presence enhances our offerings for institutional investors and private equity fund managers in key areas such as investment and divestment processes, governance, valuation policies, investor communication, restructuring, and strategies for fund extension or liquidation. Additionally, we expect Thiago to provide valuable support to our clients in the evaluation of new investments, fundraising efforts, and transaction due diligence.

Thiago holds a degree with honors in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) and an MBA with Honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, with concentrations in Finance, Accounting, and Marketing. In 2024, he began pursuing a Law degree at the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara. A Brazilian national, he is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, and English.
